Avaya SIP J179 Emulator is a desktop tool that simulates the behavior and user experience of the Avaya J179 SIP deskphone. It enables you to register virtual handsets to a standards‑based SIP server, place and receive calls, and exercise key telephony features without physical hardware. This makes it useful for lab work, QA, demos, training, and automated testing.

Key features:

  • J179 interface and feature simulation: multiple line appearances, programmable keys, call states, DTMF, call history, and contacts
  • SIP interoperability: registration over UDP/TCP/TLS with optional SRTP media encryption and support for common codecs
  • Call control: hold, attended/blind transfer, three‑way conferencing, MWI, and BLF monitoring where supported by the PBX
  • Provisioning and profiles: import/export configurations and support for typical Avaya‑style provisioning flows (for example, 46xxsettings parameters and HTTP/HTTPS/TFTP file servers)
  • Diagnostics: detailed signaling/media logs, optional PCAP capture, real‑time status indicators, and error reporting
  • Automation: command‑line options and a lightweight remote control API for scripting and CI pipelines
  • Cross‑platform availability: runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux

Benefits:

  • Speeds up development and troubleshooting
  • Reduces lab costs by minimizing hardware needs
  • Helps reproduce customer environments and validate call flows before deployment
